Presented simultaneously at Yiyeha in Seoul and Kuri in Jeju, this solo exhibition brought together 28 works created during a residency in Belvès, France, with the works distributed between the two spaces.
While walking, breathing, and spending time in an unfamiliar place, I worked by following the flow rather than setting a clear goal or purpose, remaining in a state before action. Walking, breathing, and the subtle sensations arising between them remain in the works as ongoing states rather than settling into a single fixed image.
These works record time spent in that place, as sensations gradually came into view.

서울 이예하와 제주 쿠리에서 동시에 진행된 개인전으로, 프랑스 벨베스(Belvès) 레지던시에서 제작한 총 28점의 작품을 두 공간에 나누어 선보였다.
낯선 장소에서 걷고 숨 쉬며 머무는 동안, 나는 선명한 목표나 목적을 정하기보다 행위 이전의 상태에 머물며 흐름을 따라 작업을 이어갔다. 걷기와 숨, 그 사이에서 감지되는 미세한 감각들은 하나의 이미지로 고정되기보다 지속되는 상태로 작품에 남는다.
이 작품들은 그곳에 머물며 서서히 감각이 드러나는 시간의 기록이다.

Jeju
Light filtering through the leaves and birdsong from the garden became part of the encounter with the paintings at Kuri. The exhibition invited visitors to linger, noticing the sensations that arrive before understanding.
나뭇잎 사이로 스며드는 빛과 정원에서 들려오는 새소리가 작품을 만나는 경험에 함께했습니다. 쿠리에서의 전시는 잠시 머물며, 이해보다 먼저 다가오는 감각을 느끼는 자리였습니다.

A selection of works was presented at Yiyeha in Seoul alongside the exhibition at Kuri in Jeju. Created during the residency in Belvès, the paintings met viewers across two spaces, each with its own atmosphere and rhythm.
제주 쿠리에서의 전시와 함께, 서울 이예하에서도 일부 작품을 선보였습니다. 벨베스 레지던시에서 시작된 호흡의 기록은 서로 다른 분위기와 리듬을 지닌 두 공간에서 관람객을 만났습니다.

Artist’s Notes
Notes written along the way, from the residency in Belvès to the exhibition in Jeju and Seoul. Landscapes, materials, and moments of breathing trace the time surrounding the paintings.
벨베스 레지던시에서 제주와 서울의 전시로 이어지는 동안 쓴 글들입니다. 낯선 풍경과 재료, 매일의 호흡을 바라보며 남긴 기록에는 그림이 만들어지고 관람객을 만나기까지의 시간이 담겨 있습니다.

Where the Walk Began
In Belvès, I unpacked my brushes and paints once again. As I walked through unfamiliar landscapes, the feeling of walking slowly faded, leaving only breath.

Paintings Breathing with the Space
Bending beneath Kuri’s low wooden doorway, I paused to catch my breath. Within its quiet interior, I hoped visitors might also take a moment to notice their own breathing.

Breaths Left with the Rain
In Belvès, I collected autumn rain in glass jars and used it in my paintings. As water and pigment found their balance on paper, I watched my own breath find its place.

Closing the Fourth Box of Breath
The long record of breath that began in Belvès came to a close at Kuri. With gratitude to those who shared this time, I set out again, ready for the next landscape and the breaths it would bring.
