Bizarrely enough, I have always thought that in our curiosity about what happens behind the curtains lies a small, undiscovered but tiny fear of not knowing the reality of curtains themselves. It is more about what they are capable of, and less about what they really are. But you know, it is always both.
Starting from this question, I invited two female artists Hwaran Cho and boma pak, who explore the subtle frontiers between surface and “inside.” To wander through these two territories – what they really are and what they are capable of – I coupled two words that do not get along in our usual sense, Liquid Curtains.
The practices of these two very distinct artists, whom I have admired for some time now, also carry an alchemical power to create sensible atmospheres through the juxtaposition of real, the (unintentionally and chosen-to-be) hidden, the not real, the unreal, as well as many other facets of beauty, who fearlessly cooperates, if necessary, as well as with the unknown and the unpleasant.
